How to read this
- Unoptimized (before): the total drive time if buses simply visited riders in the order they appear on the roster, with no attempt to find a shorter path.
- Optimized (after): the total drive time Google's OR-Tools route optimizer found after searching many possible orderings and assignments.
- Time saved: the difference — this is the concrete, measurable benefit of optimizing, for this specific day's riders and real traffic conditions.
- Solver result: "Proven optimal" means no better plan is mathematically possible; "Best found" means the optimizer searched hard (guided local search, the same technique used by commercial logistics software) and kept the best plan it found in the time available.
